Overview
Gastrointestinal and colorectal care is rapidly evolving, with frequent updates to screening guidelines, diagnostic technologies, and therapeutic approaches. Many clinicians struggle to stay current with these changes due to time constraints, limited access to specialized education, and variability in institutional protocols. As a result, practice patterns often lag behind evidence-based standards, leading to inconsistent care quality and missed opportunities for early detection and optimal management. This activity is necessary to bridge that gap by providing timely, practical education that translates new research and guidelines into improved clinical performance and patient outcomes.
Many clinicians lack up to date knowledge of evolving guidelines and best practices in gastrointestinal and colorectal care, including screening recommendations, minimally invasive techniques, and management of complex conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. Current practice often reflects outdated protocols or inconsistent application of evidence-based approaches, leading to variability in patient outcomes. Ideal practice requires consistent integration of new data, multidisciplinary collaboration, and adherence to current standards to optimize prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. This educational activity addresses these gaps by providing the latest updates and practical strategies to improve clinical performance and patient care quality.
Target Audience
Physicians, including primary care physicians, gastroenterologists, general surgeons, colorectal surgeons, hepatologists, oncologists, as well as advanced practice providers, nurses and all other health care professionals interested in the subject matter.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate the ability to apply updated GI and colorectal screening guidelines to improve early detection and patient outcomes.
- Examine current evidence based approaches for diagnosis and management of common and complex GI and colorectal conditions.
- Discuss multidisciplinary strategies that enhance coordination among gastroenterologists, surgeons, oncologists, and primary care providers.
