Professional Practice Gap:  Medical staff requested a series of lectures on the landscape of cancer care. Perspectives from thought leaders helps to revitalize the medical staff and develop innovative ideas on ways they can improve and impact patient care as well as research and technology, in addition to creating connections which may result in the eventual treatment options which may cure cancer.

Objectives:    

  • Identify current and leading-edge treatment options in cancer.
  • Discuss clinical conundrums and possible solutions.
  • Outline the safety and efficacy of recent clinical advances in the management of patients.
  • Examine state-of-the-art information and skills necessary for treating patients.
  • Discuss possible barriers and biases which may impact patient care (i.e., race, ethnicity, language, gender identity/orientation, age, socioeconomic status, attitudes, feelings, or other characteristics).

Educational Format: This activity will be didactic with a Q & A period and will include case presentations and discussion. This activity will be evaluated by each participant at the conclusion of the lecture.

Target Audience: The activity content is oriented to address the educational needs of physicians, nurses and all healthcare professionals interested in the subject matter.

Accreditation Statement: City of Hope is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation: City of Hope designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Allied Health Care Professionals: Registered nurses may report up to 1.0 credit hour toward the continuing education requirement for license renewal by their state Board of Registered Nurses (BRN). AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ may be noted on the license renewal application in lieu of a BRN provider number. ♦ The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ accredited courses are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.
