2024 Data Integrity in Research

Duarte, CA US
July 15, 2024

Laypersons are using artificial intelligence tools to scan prior publications to identify potential issues with data integrity, including plagiarism and image manipulation. It is critical that researchers understand the requirements related to data integrity, how to identify issues, how to prevent these issues and ensure that data that is presented for publication and in grant applications is accurate and correct. This activity is a form of responsible conduct in research education, that is required by funding agencies for anyone who participates in human subjects research.

Research data integrity is critical to the accuracy of research activities that ultimately lead to interventional treatments for patients. It is critical for everyone involved in research to understand their responsibilities as it relates to research data integrity, how to identify, prevent and mitigate issues to ensure data accuracy and integrity. This lecture will provide real life examples of data integrity issues/concerns, and provide tips on how to identify and address data integrity issues in research.
