2025 Endocrinology Grand Rounds | Targeting Radioresistance in De-Differentiated Thyroid Cancer

Thyroid cancer is a prevalent cancer worldwide, and has many subtypes. Radiation therapy is an advanced level of treatment in the management of thyroid cancer patients, and yet not all clinicians are familiar with this level of care for their patients with thyroid carcinoma, due to insufficient training. Additionally, radiation therapy in thyroid cancer management has become more advanced and the complexity of this treatment requires more and ongoing training.  

For many clinicians treating thyroid cancers, it is not clear when to use radiation therapy. This activity will increase the knowledge of endocrinologist to better utilize radiation therapy in their patients with thyroid carcinoma. It will also examine which radiation therapy is more useful in different cancer cases. It is imperative to be able to provide the patient that most tailored and tolerable treatment possible.  
 

Target Audience

Faculty and staff of the Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and all other healthcare providers interested in the subject matter.

  • Identify which patients can benefit from radiation therapy.
  • Integrate radiation therapy in the management of thyroid cancer.
  • Distinguish radiation treatment modalities.
