Despite the availability of evidence‑based contraceptive guidelines, clinicians often demonstrate variability in knowledge and application of current contraceptive options, particularly for patients with endocrine and metabolic conditions. Gaps exist in selecting appropriate methods based on medical comorbidities, counseling patients effectively, and integrating reproductive planning into chronic disease management. It is imperative to address these gaps by updating clinician knowledge, reducing practice variation, and promoting guideline‑concordant, patient‑centered contraceptive care to improve safety and outcomes.

Limited exposure of clinicians to female reproductive issues in a comprehensive cancer center is a big contributor to this knowledge gap. It is necessary for clinicians to stay abreast of up-to-date guidelines on contraceptive management that address and remove barriers for a vast majority of medically complex patients. By emphasizing patient‑centered, accessible contraceptive care, this session promotes health equity, supports reproductive autonomy, and enhances population‑level outcomes through improved clinical decision‑making among faculty and trainees.
