Multidisciplinary Approaches to Cancer Symposium Overview
Each year, the American Cancer Society estimates the number of new cancer cases and deaths that will occur in the United States. Over 2.1 million new cancer cases are projected to be diagnosed, and 626,000 cancer deaths are expected to occur in the United States in 2026.
Because they are so diverse in their individual biology, and clinical course management, many of these cancers are increasingly difficult to treat, constantly evolving and fraught with controversy. In this environment, it has become much more difficult and complicated for those involved in the care of cancer patients to remain current in best practice for each of the many tumor types that constitute cancer.
This year, our faculty will profile and discuss clinical and technical advances, promising clinical trial data, national guidelines, and key controversies in the management of various cancers, including breast, lung, colorectal, liver, brain, and gynecologic malignancies, as well as gastrointestinal malignancies. The program will also delve into parallel healthcare issues in these patient populations.
Through leading-edge lectures, case discussions, and interactive question-and-answer sessions, this intensive two-and-a-half-day program aims to enhance participants' ability to interpret and apply these best treatment options in their individual cancer practices.
Target Audience
Internists, family practitioners, gynecologists, general surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, hematologists, supportive/palliative care specialists and all other allied health care professionals interested in the subject matter.
Learning Objectives
- Describe new advancements and innovations in the use of genomics.
- Utilize therapeutic options when treating patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies.
- Identify optimal surgical and medical techniques in the treatment of breast cancer and gynecologic malignancies.
- Implement treatment strategies for the management of gastrointestinal and genitourinary malignancies.
- Examine treatment strategies for the treatment of lung cancer.
- Discuss societal impacts on cancer patients.
- Discuss possible barriers and biases which may impact patient care (i.e., race, ethnicity, language, gender identity/orientation, age, socioeconomic status, attitudes, feelings, or other characteristics).

- Central Oʻahu Route (55 minutes, 37 miles)
- Take H-1 freeway, Westbound.
- Stay on the H-1 freeway for approximately 6 miles.
- Look for signs for the H-2 freeway, Northbound (North Shore/Wahiawa).
- Merge right onto the H-2 freeway.
- Continue on the H-2 freeway North to Wahiawa. Exit at Wahiawa (Exit 8) on to route 80 (Kamehameha Highway) through Wahiawa.
- Continue Northbound, route 80 connects with route 99.
- Stay on route 99 to Haleiwa.
- The road now bypasses Haleiwa and becomes route 83.
- Continue on route 83 approximately 20 minutes toward Kahuku.
- Turtle Bay Resort will be on the left-hand side.
- East Oʻahu Route (70 minutes, 43 miles)
- Take H-3 E, Eastbound.
- Stay on the H-3 E/route 83 for approximately 42 miles (1 hour).
- Turtle Bay Resort will be on the right-hand side.

Registered Nurses: Nurses may report up to 13.25 credit hours toward the continuing education requirements for license renewal by their state Board of Registered Nurses (BRN). AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ may be noted on the license renewal application in lieu of a BRN provider number.
Physician Assistants: The National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ accredited courses are acceptable for CME requirements for recertification.
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 13.25 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Registration Fee: Registration fee includes all symposium sessions, CME Credit (AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™), symposium meals, refreshment breaks and reception**.
Cancellation Policy: Refund requests outside of a 45-day window from the transaction date will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A $50 processing fee will be applied for all refunds. Refund requests must be submitted in writing and postmarked no later than Monday, September 20, 2026. Requests postmarked after Monday, September 20, 2026, will not be honored. In the event of unforesean circumstances that lead to the cancellation by the symposium organizers, all registration fees will be fully refunded.
