Novel Health Care Delivery Models for Cancer Genetics - Time to Upscale and Increase Access - Enduring

Medical staff requested a series of lectures on the landscape of cancer care. Perspectives from thought leaders helps to revitalize the medical staff and develop innovative ideas on ways they can improve and impact patient care as well as research methods and technology, in addition to creating connections which may result in the eventual treatment options which may cure cancer. 

Target Audience

The activity content is oriented to address the educational needs of physicians, nurses and all healthcare professionals interested in the subject matter.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss prevalence, genetic testing, and surveillance recommendations of hereditary cancer syndromes, with a focus on Lynch syndrome and hereditary pancreatic cancer.
  • Identify challenges and solutions for risk assessment for inherited cancer.
  • Examine cascade genetic testing in family members of individuals affected with cancer and potential approaches to improve cascade genetic testing.
  • Identify disparities in hereditary cancer evaluation and management and ongoing efforts to mitigate these disparities.
  • Discuss possible barriers and biases which may impact patient care (i.e., race, ethnicity, language, gender identity/orientation, age, socioeconomic status, attitudes, feelings, or other characteristics).
