Pathologic diagnosis of dysplasia in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)plays an important role in deciding management options for the patients. Examination of colon biopsy can offer vital information. Histologic examination of the colonic biopsy and diagnosis of dysplasia offer vital clues for future prognosis and patient management.

Diagnosis of dysplasia in IBD is a challenge for the pathologists. It is important to learn how to correctly diagnose and categorize dysplasia in IBD . Histology plays an important role in diagnosis of dysplasia and future patient management.
